THE VOICE IN YOUR HEAD
Fear is a powerful thing - and unique in the fact that whether it be rational or irrational is not relevant. The horror that is experienced in these films runs just as deep for a mother searching for her lost child in ‘Peekaboo’ as it does for Bobby in Velvet Road, as he makes his way through a zombie-ridden post-apocalyptic world.
VISIONS OF JOANNA – Dir: Christopher Goutman – NARRATIVE – 0:12:34 - USA
Joanna and Mark leave their son, Jordan, alone for the night. Will it be just for one night or will it be forever? Visions of Joanna is a ghost story about love and loss.
DEVIL’S TEMPTATION – Dir: Neryong Ci – CELL SHORT - 0:06:40 - South Korea
A customer enters a company, The Land of the Free, and is guided by a mysterious employee who lures him into signing a consent letter in place of a drink that promises ultimate freedom.
FOXED! – Dir: James Stewart – ANIMATION – 0:03:30 – CANADA
Be astonished by what lurks in plain sight. The sinister 3D stop-motion world of Foxed! reveals young Emily toiling in mines beneath her house, imprisoned by foxes who have duped her entire town into believing children can be replaced. Teeming with shadow and light, this grown up animation unfolds to explore themes of oppression and human rights in a riveting package that creates questions and leaves the audience anxious for more.
PEEKABOO – Dir: Damien Power – NARRATIVE – 0:10:00 – AUSTRALIA
When a toddler goes missing in a car park, her mother fears she has been abducted.
THE SCAN – Dir: Esta Spalding – NARRATIVE - 0:06:28 - CANADA
Does pain reside in the mind or the body, or in both at once? Do we only truly see each other in the moment that we begin to imagine each other's pain? When, in a quest for diagnosis, Anna Moss enters an MRI machine, we enter the world of her memories, and an all too real and familiar experience becomes altogether surreal. The Scan raises provocative questions about how we store and record both psychic and physical trauma.
SECRETOS CONOCIDOS – Dir: James Joint – NARRATIVE - 0:16:00 –HONDURAS
Jesus buys and sells little girls and hates himself for it. Frank abuses little boys even though they are his family, and the Judge tries to stop it all.We know them all, they are our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and friends, and yet it all remains such a big secret known by us all...
TREMOR LOW-“KINGMAKER” – Dir: Hart Perez; Devon Perez – MUSIC VIDEOS - 0:03:53 – USA
Complementing the gothic tone of Tremor Low's single 'Kingmaker,' the Perez Brothers have crafted a film that functions equally as both a music video and a horror film. During interviews the Perez Brothers have described the film as, “A Freudian re-imaging of The Exorcist.” Watch it if you dare!
VELVET ROAD – Dir: L. Gustavo Cooper – NARRATIVE - 0:13:40 - USA
In the racially charged South of the 1960's the black population of a small town is blamed for the spread of a virulent plague. Bobby, a white mechanic, is racing through the countryside with his wife Carolyne. She was bitten by one of those infected and is fading fast. Awakening in a wrecked car with Carolyne missing, Bobby follows a trail of blood down the road towards a fateful encounter and an unthinkable choice.
